So today I got up and mom drove me to school becuase the roads were nasty and there was no school. And I was really tired this morning too. They could have checked the school closings before they dragged me from my nice warm bed. Oh well. At least I got to go home and sleep.

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum
break is continuing to be nice, but uneventful.
It was a bit windy last night. It still is, in fact. The house is making funny noises.
In a desperate attempt to make some money, I volunteered to do work for mom. She needs numbers entered into a machine or something I guess. Hopefully I will not be quite so broke by the end of break.
And since I might not remember to post tomorrow,
Happy early birthday Ellie!

I didn't go to school today :)
It was snowing like a....snowing thing, and the school only had a 2 hour delay, can you believe that? But mom decided to just let me stay home the whole day. Winsor was closed so sara was home too. We made a snowman. I hope my chamber group isn't too pissed at me for missing the coaching.

So....
Life is amusing as usual. I got about a pound of college mail today. No harvard yet, but I did get something from brown. I figure it will start to get annoying in about a week.
Math has been a bit confusing lately, but I didn't do as badly as I expected on the last quiz and last night's homework.
English is very boring. I think you could cut about 75% of the lines in othello in still get the gist of it. It's all filler!
Theory is boring as usual. Chamber music is mildly amusing, although I did get in trouble with Kathy Lord for laughing.
I moved two tympanis today and I shall be sore tomorrow.

We'll leave it at that.

This morning was boring. I didn't need to be there until 11:30, but I had to be dropped off at 8 anyway. Tomorrow too. :(
at least I got some practicing done.
Mom came and picked me up early to make up for it.
I'm sick of winter. It is too cold.

I was a half an hour late for biology this morning. Damn drivers.
Mrs. bushchenfeldt waited till the end of class to tell us that we really didn't have a quiz tomorrow.
Arts classes got canceled (yaaaaaaaay) so now I'm home.

I know what you're thinking.
a) what in hell's name is paula doing up before 7:40 in the morning?
b) even in she were up before 7:40 in the morning, shouldn't she be in too much of a hurry to update her silly livejournal?
c) if she ever were up before 7:40 on a thursday when she has algebra first block, and has nothing better to do than update her livejournal, shouldn't she be in the car getting her butt to school on time for once?
The answer to all those questions is quite simple. Well, actually not really.
Mom's car got 2 flats yesterday, so she has no car. It is quite funny that in a family that currently has 6 cars in the garage and driveway, that a situation would ever arise where someone wouldn't have a car, but many of the cars are either broken or parts cars. Anyways, dad had to take mom to get a ride for work, and I thought I had to get up early to get a ride with them, but I didn't, so both parents are gone and there is no one to drive me and I hope I'm not late.

I don't think I am going to be able to survive the rest of this school year. It feels like we should be most of the way through, but we still have 3 more weeks until second semester starts and that's just the half way point! We still have 5 more months of school!! 5 months!!
that's almsot half a year!!
This school year is seeming very long.

Happy new year! [01 Jan 2005|08:23pm]
I have succeeded in last years resolution not to eat a papaya. It was pretty easy. This year's is not to eat an ugli fruit. Wish me luck.
I am a firm believer in not discouraging myself from life in general by making resolutions that I won't be able to keep. :) Not that they aren't a bit of a challenge. I like fruit.
Summer plans are made. Which makes me feel a lot better about everything for some reason. I like knowing what I am doing.

christmas is my favorite holiday
because of its ability to reduce me to the spoiled little brat I really am inside.
I hope mom and dad got me something good this year.

I was reading that book of grammer put out by the assosiation of grammer gods or the national middle school english paper group or whatever they're called, and have learned that I have been doing a lot of things wrong, e.g. confusing when to use e.g. and i.e. It is a lot more complicated than one would think. Note the propper use of than instead of then in that sentence. Whoever invented language must have (not must of) had a stick up his ass. The one that really shocked me was that you are not supposed to start a sentence with "hopefully", becuase it is an adverb. It is to be hoped that one day people will give up on grammer and just write like idiots.

I think I've done this one before, but it is funny [17 Dec 2004|07:44pm]
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the "coolest" book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

I've realized something.
Young people really don't know what the hell is going on with anything in life.
But we like to think that we do.

A bad story about a nice mute [29 Nov 2004|04:38pm]
As some of you might know, I recently lost my mute. This is a big deal because this is not your average cardboard high school band "stonelined" mute (which just makes it sound like you stuffed a sock in your bell), nor is it even a slightly nicer truncated aluminum mute (which sounds like you stuffed a ball of tin foil in your bell), this is a top of the line $150 wooden Dennis Wick tunable french horn straight mute with a nice little leather string attached to the bottom so you don't drop it.
Unfortunately, I had it under my chair at YS rehearsal a few weeks ago because we needed to be muted for a few spots and I forgot to take it with me when I left. I haven't seen it since. Last week at YS I talked to 50 bazillion people at NEC and some of them said they'd seen it but NO ONE knew where it was. So earlier today, mom called NEC and they said that they had it! (or if not it, a similar mute which they said I could have anyway). So yay!

the world is a strange place [27 Nov 2004|07:00pm]
The problem with being around people who are always stressed out is that now I've developed a guilt complex about doing nothing.
I used to enjoy doing nothing, but now, whenever I sit down to do nothing, that stupid part of my brain that makes me get up off my butt and do things refuses to chill and tries to think of things that I need to do, even when I obviously have nothing do to. I think it is confused by the constant messages of stress and doom it is getting from other people, mostly from school *doesn't mention any names*. When you are around people who insist that theworldwillendiftheydon'tgetinsixmorehoursofpracticingtodaybecuasetheyhaveaworkshoponsaturdayandthey'veonlybeenworkingontheirpiecefor6months and complain that theycan'tbelievethemathteacherassigned2problemsforhomeworkbecuasetheyhavetowriteaparagraphlongessayforenglishandgotoandhourofnutcrackerrehearsalintheevening and believe that theirlivesareoverbecausetheguytheywentonadatewithoncejustcalledandsaidhecan'tgooutwiththemthissaturdaybecausehehasarehearsalbuthereallyjustwantsanexcusetodumpthemandtheyareworthlessandugly
you can start to believe it too.
I think people in general need to chill, not just for themselves, but becuase it can start to get to other people who are content to be lazy and happy.
